The Foundation for development of small and medium enterprises (Regional Enterprise Support Centre – Skopje) was established in 1998 within the Integral PHARE programme for small and medium enterprises support. The legal status of the Foundation is nongovernmental and nonprofit organization. Its founders are: the City of Skopje and Skopje Chamber of Craftsman.

It’s mission is establishing competitive superiority of the City of Skopje through support and implementation of initiatives for local economic development and support of programs for small and medium enterprises progressive growth.

The Foundation for development of small and medium entrepreneurship is operating as a help desk for the SMEs in the City of Skopje regarding all information about the SME sector. The following services for the SMEs are offered: Support to the SMEs for easier access to financial sources and credit lines; Assistance in business planning and preparation of a business plan; Organize and conduct training programs for unemployed as well as development of the IDEAS into the successful businesses; Information and services for professional development of the high educated young people without employment; Matching the SMEs with the young high educated people; Support in managing with the cash flow; Support for easier access to the financial grants and donations of the International Donator’s Programs; Identification of sustainable business opportunities; Identification of potential business partners; Provides contacts for SMEs with the external partners and matching them; Estimates the need for human resources development within the management structures or other employees; Provides Organizational structure Analyze and detailed job description; Carry out selection procedures regarding recruitment of staff; Supports SMEs in increasing their market participation; Organize presentation performances, Seminars, Workshops, Conferences and etc.

It’s priorities are production of an added value in the Skopje City’s economy through: Creation of an enabling business environment aimed to raise the competitiveness of the current enterprises and to initiates establishment of new business and new sectors; Promotion of the entrepreneurial concept; Support to the unemployed in order to improve their skills and abilities for employment; Raising the usage percentage of the available credit lines; Strengthening the capacity of the institutional partners of the Foundation (The City of Skopje, municipalities in the City of Skopje and the NGO sector); Establishing and promoting new partnerships for Local Economic Development; Increasing the employment through promotion of new alternative employment measures; Initiatives for international economic cooperation by developing a culture of “partnerships on a project ” within international programs and calls for proposals; Support of the transfer of knowledge and experiences by promoting examples of good practice.
